Summer Employment Opportunities at Camp


Program Coordinator Position - Program Coordinator is responsible for running after school programs that consist of 1 hr. meetings. The meetings consist of a group of kids between 1st and 5th grade. The locations vary between the various districts the council serves: Union, Morris, Sussex, Somerset and parts of Middlesex counties. We serve the children of these communities in organizations including YMCA’s, schools, churches, and other community organizations. Must have a mode of transportation and be at least 18 years of age. Upon acceptance the Program Coordinator must undergo two types of training, online and in person, for a total of 6 training sessions. In addition they will get one on one training with their direct supervisor once a month to prepare for the month’s meetings. They will follow a program syllabus that is provided, which consists of a monthly themed lesson plan that includes one activity. The programs run between 3:30 pm and 6pm. Program Coordinator can do up to 2 programs a day. Special needs Programs run during school hours for up to 4 hours a day. Special needs programs have meetings on a monthly and quarterly basis. The Coordinator should be available to work at least 5 hours a week, which is equivalent to 5 meetings a week. They are also responsible for filling out and submitting reports on time. There are two types of reports that must be submitted every month. The Program Coordinator must represent the Boy Scouts of America when running meetings. After all 6 initial trainings are completed; they will receive a Boy Scouts uniform shirt which must be worn at every meeting. Starting pay rate is $15 per hourly meeting with pay raise incentives. Experience working with kids is a plus, but must be willing to work with a group of up to 30 kids. Not responsible for babysitting kids, must only provide the program. Schedule is set up through May/June when programs end. Summer Program Coordinator positions will also be available. Must not change schedule once program begins, but if a conflict in schedule is inevitable, must speak immediately with supervisor. Changes must be made as soon as possible. Program Coordinator must abide by all the standards and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America as well as those put forward by the organizations we serve through our programs.
